PROJECT "FLOS FERRI"
In her project “FLOS FERRI” Claudia Czimek dedicates herself to iron; combines the manual process of forging with a theoretical examination of questions of the origin and mythological meaning of the raw material and deals with the existing (role) images and attributes. The iron blossom (lat. Flos ferri), that valuable mineral that is kept like a treasure in Eisenerz in individually made iron blossom boxes, served as the starting point for the artistic work on site. She visited Eisenerz and the Erzberg for over a year and worked on the "flos ferri" project together with locals and in the mountain forge on the Erzberg. In ihrem Projekt „FLOS FERRI“ widmet sich Claudia Czimek dem Material Eisen; verknüpft dabei den handwerklichen Prozess des Schmiedens mit einer theoretischen Auseinandersetzung zu Fragen der Herkunft und mythologischen Bedeutung des Rohstoffes und beschäftigt sich mit den vorhandenen (Rollen)Bildern und Attributen. Die Eisenblüte (lat. flos ferri), jenes wertvolle Mineral, das in Eisenerz in individuell gefertigten Eisenblütenkästchen wie ein Schatz gehütet wird, diente als Ausgangspunkt für die künstlerische Arbeit vor Ort. Über ein Jahr besuchte sie Eisenerz und den Erzberg und erarbeitete vorort das Projekt "flos ferri" gemeinsam mit Einheimischen und in der Bergschmiede am Erzberg. Alte und neue Technologie und Mythologie vereinen sich in gegenwärtigen, künstlerischen Auswüchsen
